What are Voting rules of Ballon d’Or
For the 2023 Ballon d’Or, significant modifications to the voting rules were implemented:
- In the 2023 edition, only 100 selected journalists from FIFA’s top 100 ranked nations are eligible to vote for the Ballon d’Or, a notable reduction from the 170 voters in the 2022 edition.
- The Women’s Ballon d’Or is decided by a panel of 50 journalists, each representing one of the top 50 nations.
- The Kopa Trophy winner is chosen by a jury of past Ballon d’Or winners.
- The Yashin Trophy winner is determined in the same manner as the men’s Ballon d’Or, through a panel of 100 journalists.
In 2022, Karim Benzema emerged as the winner of the Ballon d’Or, surpassing competitors like Sadio Mane and Kevin De Bruyne, who secured second and third places, respectively.
